Creating a service account in Linux

LinuxUsers & Groupsuseraddintermediate

What this snippet does

A system account with nologin can own files and run services but cannot be logged into.

Expected output

uid=997(appsvc) gid=997(appsvc) groups=997(appsvc)

Why practise typing this

Typing users & groups code builds muscle memory for the symbols and indentation Linux uses most, which prose-based typing tests never cover. DevType measures your words per minute and accuracy on this snippet and tracks the individual characters you mistype, so later lessons can target them.
